Tokai LC225

Really beautiful guitar ….

A 2014 guitar that hasn’t been played recently judging by the fret wire and age’ing on the components. Needs a fret dress, good clean up then a setup with new strings. Changed out the Bare Knuckle PG’s, I didn’t like the middle switch out of phase tone on this all Mahogany custom, be better on a maple cap guitar. Sourced a set of excellent Faber PAF pickups, which I know to be bright and clear and dropped them into the existing pickup covers to keep the look authentic. Wow!  Massive clear rich tones, deep sustain. Really like the sound now. Neck is chunky but no base ball bat. Action set as lowish making play-ability very smoooooth! Just love the high quality Ebony fret board and typical Custom fret edge bindings. Guitar weighs in at 10.5lbs/4.8Kgs …….  bring on the wide padded strap!!

The LC225 is from the Tokai Premium Series and it shows, the workmanship is first class, mother of pearl inlays to head stock and fret board really pick up the light.

Guitar has a ding on the body just where your forearm rests which cracked the binding and flaked the nitro. Few minor dings to top of head stock. Stippled dark cherry nitro on these to cover up and seal off the wood. Wont do a refinish though, doesn’t need it.

All in all a very classy instrument of the highest quality, love it!
